Product Description
The single-shaft shredder is an optional piece of equipment in our PE film washing line reserved for lower grade films with higher levels of contamination. Unlike the plastic granulator that operates at high speeds, shredders in general operate at relatively low speeds allowing a greater leeway small pieces of rocks, glass, metals and other materials mingled into the plastic film bales that may otherwise easily damage a granulator.
Another benefit of slow rotation speed is that our single-shaft shredder, frequency controlled between 60-100 rotations per minute, is relatively quiet and produces little fines. The large vertical feeder can take in entire bales of LDPE / LLDPE films and can therefore take place of a debaler machine.
As the PE film bales enter our single-shaft shredder, a hydraulic assisted drawer pushes the material against the rotor where it will be continuously cut until it reaches the desired size. Size is controlled by a screen filter with holes that is fitted beneath the cutting chamber; The material will continue to be shredded until it is small enough to fall through.
As our single-shaft shredders are often times placed in front of the most demanding jobs, the frame and structure of our shredders use high-thickness sheets and tubular. The square knives are treatment strengthened and use only the highest quality SKD11 steel (D2 equivalent) to ensure against dulling. Depending the capacity you require, we offer a variety of standard single-shaft shredders for your choosing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why add a single-shaft shredder to a film washing line?
It is specified for lower-grade films with higher contamination. Unlike a high-speed plastic granulator, this shredder runs at only 60–100 rpm, which tolerates small pieces of rock, glass, and metal mingled into film bales without the damage a granulator would suffer. It acts as a protective first cut: shredding dirty bales before the more sensitive downstream equipment.
How does the shredder process whole film bales?
Entire bales of LDPE/LLDPE film go straight into the large vertical feeder — no debaler needed. A hydraulic-assisted drawer pushes the material against the rotor, where it is cut continuously until pieces are small enough to fall through the screen filter fitted beneath the cutting chamber. Screen hole size sets the final particle size.
What models and capacities are available?
Four standard models cover 400 to 2,000 kg/h: the DS-600 (30 kW, 400–600 kg/h), DS-800 (45 kW, 600–800 kg/h), DS-1000 (2 x 37 kW, 800–1,200 kg/h), and DS-1200 (2 x 45 kW, 1,500–2,000 kg/h). Rotor speeds range from 70 to 85 rpm across the range. Share your film type and throughput and we will match the model to your line.
Why is the single-shaft shredder so quiet?
The slow rotor speed (60–100 rpm, frequency controlled) is the reason: low-speed shearing cuts material gently instead of hammering it at high speed, so the machine runs relatively quietly and produces little fines. That makes it suitable for indoor installation near other washing-line equipment without extreme noise or dust issues.
What are the knives made of, and how long do they last?
The square knives are treatment-strengthened SKD11 tool steel (D2 equivalent) — a high-quality wear-resistant steel chosen to resist dulling on the demanding, contaminated feedstocks this machine faces. Since frames use high-thickness sheets and tubular construction, the whole machine is built for long service in front of the toughest jobs.
What is the lead time for ordering?
Lead time for single pieces of equipment is 30 days from signing the purchase contract. Custom orders such as complete washing lines take 60 to 90 days, depending on project complexity and factory availability.
