Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) Water Treatment For Plastic Recycling

A complete dissolved air floatation (DAF) waste water treatment system for recycling water used in plastic washing plants as well as in any of the following:

  1. Paper waste water treatment and fiber recovery
  2. Printing and dyeing wastewater treatment
  3. Electroplating and other heavy metal ions containing wastewater treatment
  4. Oily wastewater treatment
  5. Tannery wastewater treatment
  6. Chemical wastewater treatment
  7. Paint wastewater treatment
  8. Food waste water treatment
  9. Biological treatment of mud
  10. Low temperature and low turbidity ground water treatment
  11. Algae surface water treatment
  12. A variety of other waste water solid and liquid separation

Often abbreviated as a DAF system, our dissolved air floatation system is a highly efficient and economical way to remove contaminants such as total suspended solids (TSS), oils and grease (FOG), fats, and biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) from waste water streams.

Regardless of the types of contaminant you come across in your plastic recycling plant, this waste water recovery system will help reduce your overall water bill and make your operation even more eco-friendly.

WORKING PRINCIPLE

A hefty two-stage air compressor is used to produce highly compressed air that is dissolved into the waste water housed within a large tank. As the dissolved air reaches atmospheric pressure, millions of micro-sized bubbles are released. These bubbles cling onto the suspended matter within the waste water bringing it up to the top where it is removed by a scrapping mechanism.

To help facilitate this process, coagulants or flocculants such as PAC and PAM are added to encourage the clustering of particles.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a DAF system and how does it work?

Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) removes contaminants by dissolving highly compressed air into wastewater, then releasing it at atmospheric pressure. Millions of micro-sized bubbles are released, clinging to suspended matter and floating it to the top, where a scraping mechanism removes it. Coagulants or flocculants such as PAC and PAM are added to encourage particles to cluster for easier removal.

What contaminants does the DAF system remove?

The system is a highly efficient, economical way to remove total suspended solids (TSS), oils and grease (FOG), fats, and biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) from wastewater streams. These are exactly the contaminants generated by plastic washing plants — inks, labels residue, dirt, and process chemicals — so treated water can be recirculated back into the washing process.

Which plastic recycling lines pair with DAF water treatment?

Any washing operation benefits: PP/PE film washing lines, rigid plastic recycling lines, and PET bottle recycling plants all consume large volumes of wash water. The DAF system recovers that water for reuse, reducing your overall water bill and making the operation more eco-friendly.

Which other industries can use this system?

Beyond plastics, the DAF system serves paper wastewater treatment and fiber recovery, printing and dyeing, electroplating and heavy-metal wastewater, oily wastewater, tannery, chemical, paint, and food wastewater, biological treatment of mud, low-temperature and low-turbidity groundwater, algae surface water, and general wastewater solid-liquid separation. One platform covers a wide range of solid-liquid separation needs.

Which models are available, and what are their capacities?

Four standard models are offered: APW-5 (2.2 kW, 5 m³/h capacity), APW-10 (4.0 kW, 10 m³/h), APW-20 (4.0 kW, 20 m³/h), and APW-30 (5.5 kW, 30 m³/h). CE certification is available, and larger, more powerful models can be built based on your request. Share your wash-water volume and we will size the right unit for your plant.

What are the benefits for a recycling plant?

Recycling wash water cuts freshwater consumption and discharge costs, lowers your overall water bill, and makes the operation more eco-friendly — a real advantage when pitching to sustainability-focused customers. The system is economical to run, CE-certifiable, and all recycling machines come with a 1 year limited warranty with technical support available.
