Welcome to our blades sharpener operation Instruction! Boost your machine’s efficiency with our precision-engineered Automatic Blade Sharpening Machine. It ensures optimal sharpness for all straight-edge blades, critical for effective granulation. Maximize performance and throughput by eliminating manual sharpening. Embrace our advanced solution for seamless, efficient operations.
First, connect the power cables according to the instructions.
Activate manual mode by turning the upper right switch to the left. You can adjust the settings using the joystick on the control panel, and use the rotary speed control knob to fine-tune the movement speed.
Switch on the machine using the isolator on the right side of the blue power supply panel.
Ensure the emergency stop is disengaged.
Check that the parameters under the ‘Automatic’ tab are set correctly.
Place the blades onto the machining bed, ensuring the flat back of the blade rests against the stop.
Use a feeler gauge to check that both blades are seated flush along their length.
If necessary, adjust the blade angle using the adjustment wheel. Once set, engage the locking lever.
Press the magnetize button on the control panel, then ensure the blades are properly magnetized to the bed.
Switch to manual mode, then use the joystick to adjust the blade to the left-side position. Press the “Left Limit” button on the control panel to set it. Similarly, set the “Right Limit”
Set the machine to automation mode by turning the upper right switch to the right.
Activate the water pump and grinding stone by turning the upper left switch first left, then right.
Press the ‘X-axis manual’ button to start the automatic cutting routine.
Allow the sharpening process to run for around 10 minutes. Be cautious, as the blades will get very hot and might generate smoke.
Check the blade’s sharpness. If it’s not up to standard, repeat the process,
Once done, ensure the green button is off to demagnetize the bed, allowing safe blade removal.
Finally, switch off the machine, clean the slag trough, and check that the guide rail oil reservoir is filled and free from debris. Pump the lever a couple of times to lubricate the rails.

Frequently Asked Questions
What types of blades can the MDJ-3200 sharpen?
The MDJ-3200 is built for straight-edge blades used in plastic granulators — both rotating and stationary knives. The blade’s flat back rests against the bed stop and is held by magnetization during grinding. If your granulator uses a different blade profile, contact us to confirm compatibility before ordering.
How long does it take to sharpen a set of blades?
A typical automatic sharpening cycle runs around 10 minutes per setup. After the cycle, check the blade’s sharpness — if it is not up to standard, repeat the process. Compared with manual sharpening, the automatic routine delivers a more consistent edge in far less hands-on time.
Is the sharpening process fully automatic?
Setup is manual and the cycle is automatic. You place and magnetize the blades, set the left and right travel limits with the joystick, select the blade angle, and switch to automation mode — the machine then runs the grinding routine on its own. The water pump and grinding stone are activated from the control panel before starting.
What safety precautions should operators follow?
Be cautious: blades get very hot during grinding and may generate smoke, so allow cooling time and ensure ventilation. Always confirm the emergency stop is disengaged before starting and engaged when servicing. After sharpening, switch off the green button to demagnetize the bed before removing blades — never pull magnetized blades off by force.
How do I know when to sharpen versus replace a blade?
Sharpen blades when cutting performance drops but the edge geometry is still intact — rising power draw, inconsistent flake size, or extra dust are typical signs. When repeated sharpening no longer restores the edge, or the blade is chipped or worn past its usable profile, it is time for new blades. See our granulator blade replacement guide for the changeover procedure.
What maintenance does the blade sharpener itself need?
After each use, switch off the machine, clean the slag trough, and check that the guide rail oil reservoir is filled and free of debris — pump the lever a couple of times to lubricate the rails. Regularly verify the grinding stone condition and the water pump flow so cooling stays effective and the edge finish stays consistent.
