Rigid Plastic Granulator Machines XL

rigid plastic granulator machine with air blower conveyor

This XL model of our rigid plastic granulator machine is designed for high-volume granulation of large-sized rigid plastics such as drums, pots, baby seats, pallets, and more. You can choose from four powerful models with capacities starting from 300 kg/hr up to 1200 kg/hr.

If you’re looking for a smaller sized plastic granulator for rigid plastics, see our standard rigid plastic granulator machines.

WORKING PRINCIPLE

Similar to our standard rigid plastic granulator machines, our XL model granulators are designed to crush large pieces of rigid plastics with thickness below 2 cm. If you’re looking to cut thicker rigid plastic materials, please look into our single-shaft shredders.

Inside the cutting chamber of this rigid plastic granulator, multiple high-quality D2 steel blades are attached onto a wide open rotor. These claw-like blades are specially heat treated to improve strength, anti-corrosion, and durability to ensure the granulator remains in operation for the longer cycles without requiring to sharpen the blades.

As the rotor spins, the many rotary blades come in contact with stationary blades attached to the cutting chamber walls resulting in the rigid plastic being continuously cut. The blades are strategically aligned in a step design to reduce pressure buildup and improve cutting force. As the plastic becomes smaller and smaller, a screen filter at the bottom of the granulator allows small pieces of cut plastic to fall through exiting the machine.

This rigid plastic granulator offers simple access to the cutting chamber for easy cleaning. When the blades become dull, they can be easily removed for sharpening over and over again.

Instead of out sourcing your blade sharpening, why not lower your monthly costs by professionally sharpening the blades yourself with a fully automatic granulator blade sharpening machine?

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the XL model differ from the standard rigid granulator?

The XL series is built for high-volume granulation of large-sized rigid plastics — drums, pots, baby seats, pallets — with four models from 300 kg/h up to 1,200 kg/h. The standard rigid granulator covers smaller pieces and lower throughputs. If your feed is bulky and your volumes are high, the XL’s wider chamber and stronger drive are the right choice; otherwise the standard model saves money and floor space.

What is the maximum material thickness the XL can handle?

The XL granulator is designed for rigid plastics with thickness below 2 cm. If you need to cut thicker materials, a single-shaft shredder is the better tool — shredders handle thick purgings and lumps that would strain a granulator. Feeding oversized material beyond the rated thickness risks blade damage and overload trips.

How do I choose the right XL model?

The SW-600 (37 kW) does around 300 kg/h, the SW-800 (55 kW) around 600 kg/h, the SW-1000 (75 kW) around 1,000 kg/h, and the SW-1200 (90 kW) up to 1,200 kg/h. Match the capacity to your peak feed rate and confirm your power supply supports the motor. CE certification is available, and larger models can be built on request for special applications.

What is the step-design blade arrangement?

The rotary D2 steel blades are strategically aligned in a step design, which reduces pressure buildup inside the cutting chamber and improves cutting force as the rotor spins. Combined with heat-treated claw-like blades, this lets the granulator run longer cycles between sharpenings. The open-rotor layout also gives simple access to the chamber for cleaning.

How do I maintain the blades?

The high-quality D2 steel blades are heat treated for strength, anti-corrosion, and durability, and when dull they are easily removed and sharpened — over and over again. Instead of outsourcing, many plants sharpen in-house with the fully automatic granulator blade sharpener, cutting monthly costs. Watch for rising power draw or coarser output as the signal to service the knives.

What are the power and installation requirements?

Motors range from 37 kW to 90 kW across the four models, so three-phase industrial power with proper protection is essential. The machines are heavy industrial equipment — set them on a solid concrete floor, allow clearance for chamber access and screen changes, and plan infeed and discharge conveyors around the granulator. Confirm exact dimensions and electrical specs with ASG for your chosen model.
